Bring AID Home for the Holiday
Hello everyone,
We hope that your fall term finished up well! And now that you’re done with school work, at least for a couple weeks, we’re hoping to recruit your help in bringing Americans for Informed Democracy back home with you for the holidays!
The biggest way that you can help us is by providing information about where you attended high school. Our organization is offering a new program this summer, called Global Scholar, which will allow high school students to immerse themselves in dynamic, college-level coursework on international affairs at Washington & Lee University. See www.globalscholar.org for more information. As Global Scholar is our first big effort to involve high school students in our mission, we are hoping to take advantage of our existing college network to introduce ourselves to high schools. With this in mind, we have developed a set of materials tailor-made to introduce Global Scholar to your old high school on your behalf. If you go to www.globalscholar.org/myschool and fill out the brief information requested, we’ll send a brief letter and two brochures about Global Scholar on your behalf to your high school! Filling out the information at www.globalscholar.org/myschool will take less than three minutes and will be incredibly helpful to our goal of bringing global understanding to high schoolers. We really hope you’ll take the time to do this.
The second big way that you can help us is by sharing your unique talents with us while you have a free moment over winter break. We need help especially in the following areas:
- Web design (we want to improve our website!)
- Graphic design (we want a better AID logo!)
- Filmmaker (we want to create a promo video about AID!)
- Reporters (to write for our website about some of the outstanding things that you, our organizers, have done this semester!)
- Filling in spreadsheets (excel sheets galore!)
- Fundraising (benefit concerts, awards luncheons, golf tournaments…oh my!)
For more on each of these roles and information on who to contact to offer help, click here.
Finally, we are always eager to solicit your support – or that of friends and family – around the holiday time. If by chance you can make a donation to AID, click here – or, if you’d like a letter you can send to others to ask them to donate, click here.
As this year draws to close, we just want to thank you again for all of your help! Your energy and commitment has helped us grow at a staggering rate in 2005. We now have representation on over 500 college campuses. We have averaged more than 3 events a day this fall – or more than 250 events in total. And we have jumped from 467 Google hits in 2004 to more 49,000 Google hits today. This exciting growth is giving us new opportunities to make an impact on the future of America’s role in the world. As we look to 2006, we are excited to work with you to transform our growing network of energy into education and action!
Best wishes for the Holidays,
The AID Team (Seth, Allynn, and Sarah)
P.S. Look out for an e-mail from us before the end of the month with a list of exciting opportunities for you to organize events on your campus this Spring! We will also be sending out our newsletter shortly offering a new full-time fellowship to join our staff here in New Haven and eight summer internships.
